Absolutely not.  If I’ve learned anything from looking through pictures upon pictures, it’s that the new trend is to mismatch dresses.  Don’t worry; matching dresses is still in trend.

The great thing about mismatched dresses is that each bridesmaid gets a dress that:

1.       They WILL wear again
2.       Fits them perfectly
3.       They can afford

Set guidelines for the girls. Maybe you want them all the same length, or in the same color wheel. Make sure you okay every dress before the wedding so you don’t have any surprises. In the end, they are your wedding pictures.

Ways to match and mix: Same color, different design. Same pattern, different design.  Same color family, different design. All different.

Check out some of these pictures for inspiration. Stay on trend and budget by mixing and matching!

Regardless of the economy or your financial status, some things are just better when you can get a good deal.  So how to save money?

Decide on colors from the beginning
Once you select the colors, you will be able to buy and collect items in those colors while they are on sale.  It’s even better if you have an engagement lasting more than a year because you can buy items at after season sales.

Consider an off season or off day wedding
A wedding on a Sunday in January will yield huge savings with the venue and most of the vendors you will end up hiring.  And bonus – you won’t have to fight for your favorite vendors!

Search the internet for coupons
Think you’ve found the best price for table linens?  Before you buy, do a quick search on retailmenot.com or in a search engine for a coupon.  You might find a code for an extra 5% off or free shipping.

Flowers
An easy one but still to be said – look for flowers that are in season or in your area.

Craigslist
Craigslist can offer gently used wedding items at a great price.  Also, take a look at the event services postings.  You might find a florist or photographer who can do great work but offer great prices if they are just starting out.

Buy vs. Rent
Do your homework!  Does it cost $10 to buy but $8 to rent?  It’s better in the long run because you can re-sell making it cheaper than renting.

Bridesmaid Dresses
You are not required to select bridesmaid dresses from a bridal shop.  You can decide to have mismatched but coordinating dresses that the girls can find at retail chains or select them yourself from a retail store.  Take a trip to a high-end outlet mall.  There are always great deals to be had!

These are just a few tips on how to save money.  I’m sure that I’m missing even more!  Feel free to share your cost saving tips below.

I'm pretty excited about these inspiration boards.  Fall is such a wonderful time of year when it starts getting colder and the air feels crisper.  When you think of Fall and Wedding, colors such as orange, brown, and red come to mind mimicking the color change of leaves.  A wedding can be designed so beautifully with those but there are other options for the daring!  And so I present to you the first installment of Seasonal Inspiration Boards: Traditional, Modern, and Season be Darned!
Traditional
Colors: Burnt Orange, Brown, and Yellow
Thoughts: I love all the options with this color scheme.  Brown bridesmaid dresses, pumpkin escort cards, and candy apple favors would really represent the season and give your wedding a warm feeling.

Modern
Colors: Copper, Champagne, and Light Pink
Thoughts: This color scheme honestly makes me swoon.  Mismatched bridesmaids dresses, pink details, and chic invitations are pretty awesome.  Isn't that copper wire bouquet the coolest?  There are so many ways to incorporate copper color and copper wire into your wedding.

Season be Darned!
Colors: Eggplant, Purple, and Green
Thoughts: For the bride who doesn't care what month it is or what the color trends are!  I really love purple.  I love all the details it can be incorporated into.
